The year 2009 marks the starting point of a large-scale Sberbank Development Strategy until 2014. In an important sideline to its core operations, Sberbank is helping society cope with the fallout from the global financial crisis and get back on solid financial ground.

Sberbank offers an ever-broader range of services to private customers:

  • Revised and improved lending programmes with lower interest rates
  • An all-purpose services contract is developed, giving every customer access to all services of the bank
  • The Credit Factory project is successfully implemented in Moscow and at the North-Western Bank
  • A special unit is set up to cater to customers with monthly incomes below 25,000 RUB
  • A Credit Insurance programme is launched
  • Sberbank commences a Wealthy Customer Service project
  • In October, Sberbank starts accepting MasterCard Platinum, VISA Platinum and VISA Infinite cards
  • In a foray into the stock brokerage services market, Sberbank offers a new kind of service – online trading using the Focus IV Online remote access system

Large-scale efforts are undertaken to promote private enterprise, with new services for corporate customers launched:

  • Small business is promoted and supported actively. New lending programmes are offered: Car for Business,Commercial Real Estate, Express Leasing and Micro Loans to Small Businesses.
  • Moscow and Samara branches launch the Sberbank Business Online system.

The bank infrastructure is developing rapidly:

  • Sberbank successfully completes its rebranding programme in late 2009
  • A one-of-a-kind innovative and hi-tech Office of Sberbank Future opens in Moscow, with preparations underway to launch 20 similar offices in 8 Russian cities
  • Projects to streamline bank operations are implemented
  • The bank establishes the Corporate University of Sberbank pursuing cooperation with the leading international business schools
  • Sberbank draws up a project to create the Higher International School of Banking
  • Active efforts are underway to form an HR pool, with an ongoing search for gifted young professionals and a focus on unlocking their potential
  • A single service for monitoring and controlling the performance of ATM's in Moscow is deployed
  • Sberbank optimises the process of delivering cash to customers and bank offices in Moscow
  • Reorganisation of IT services is completed
  • The bank deploys an automated corporate customer relations management system
  • Efforts are underway to develop a platform for comprehensive analysis of bank operations
  • A new customer service model is launched as part of the Base Product programme in a shift of focus from selling individual products to comprehensive customer service
  • The bank deploys a Master Data Management (MDM) system for managing a single profile of private customers in Moscow

  • Sberbank ranks among the Top 20 largest banks globally in terms of market capitalisation
  • In December 2009, Sberbank Group buys a controlling interest in BPS-Bank
  • Sberbank opens a representative office in Frankfurt am Main, Germany
  • The bank secures a permit to open a branch in New Delhi, India
  • In 2004, Sberbank ranks 4th in the RBC rating, Top Fifty Dream Employers for Young Professionals
  • Sberbank wins a number of awards in the annual competition, Russian Leaders in Corporate Governance
  • The Social Card of Sberbank is issued as part of active community outreach and charity efforts
