Sberbank wins CDMC, an international cybersecurity competition

Nov 18, 2020

Sberbank Cybersecurity Department’s team has been recognized as the best during the international online Cybersecurity Data Mining Competition 2020 (CDMC).

The Russian professionals offered the best solution by creating and training AI models to identify malware. The bank’s team left behind the team from Taiwan (2nd place), Japan (3rd place), and other countries. The competition welcomed a total of 549 professionals from 44 countries.

Stanislav Kuznetsov, Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:

«Sberbank faces cyberattacks every second and repels them successfully. It won’t be an exaggeration to say that the best criminal minds of Russia and indeed the whole world are trying to hack us, given the scale and profile of our operations. On the back of this, within a few years, we’ve managed to groom a world-class team capable of withstanding cyber-attacks of any complexity. To protect Sberbank and its customers, we have built a unique cybersecurity ecosystem and we use cutting-edge technologies and algorithms. The victory in the prestigious international competition has once again proved the ultimate competitiveness and preparedness of our team. Unfortunately, criminals are also evolving with us, and therefore we cannot afford to put our evolution on hold even for a moment.»
