5 million children participate in projects of Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future in five years
In November 2020 Sberbank Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future is celebrating its fifth anniversary. Over the years, as many as five million children from all parts of Russia have taken part in the Foundation projects.
The mission of the Foundation is to develop Russian education taking into account the challenges of the 21st century and to create an effective inclusive environment. Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Executive Board of Sberbank, is one of the main inspirational figures and architects behind the Foundation.

Sberbank pays close attention to creating new opportunities for every child, their parents, and teachers. By developing and supporting projects aimed at personal potential and digital skills, we prepare and adapt program participants for the challenges of the 21st century. Over five years, the Investment to the Future Foundation has initiated and pro-actively participated in the implementation of a personalized education model and the development of an inclusive environment in Russia. I am convinced that we can only shape a successful future for the next generation through joint work, energy, and care.”
The Foundation’s key programs and projects
The Personal Potential Development program has helped educate nearly 600 managers of schools and kindergartens in 20 regions of Russia. In educational institutions, they create an environment in which children learn to make informed independent choices and stick to them, groom skills and competencies that are relevant in the 21st-century life and work.
The digital skills and competencies program united a raft of events. Over 100 of Digital Lessons on artificial intelligence have grabbed the attention of four million schoolchildren and 10,000 teachers throughout Russia. One million schoolchildren from 13 countries have participated in the program events like The High Tech and Tech Entrepreneurship Week, AI-Academy Hackathon, and AI Competition.
The Financial Literacy program trains children in managing money, planning budgets, and protecting their funds from fraudsters. As many as 4,000 schoolchildren have taken the Young Financier course. A community of financial literacy teachers has been formed in 30 regions of Russia. The Investment financial virtual game has been played over one million times.
The Teacher for Russia program unites 240 young professionals working with 30,000 students in 95 schools located in towns and villages with a complicated socioeconomic environment, fighting educational inequality.
The SberClass school digital platform is already available to teachers and students in 65 regions of Russia, and Sber keeps developing this initiative. The platform lets stakeholders customize in-person mixed learning with advanced content, which are the key trends in today’s education.
The Stop Coronavirus Together! charity campaign ran as part of the Together initiative, has helped gather RUB179 mln in donations (taking into account the doubling of donations by Sber) on the SberTogether charity platform. The money was sent to Russian research centers and organizations to create and test vaccines for COVID-19, improve the effectiveness of treatment, and prevent infection. Additionally, in 2020 alone the SberTogether platform has helped to raise about RUB75 mln for 119 organizations.
The Kind New Year’s Gift campaign over five years has brought RUB60.8 mln, which was used to organize 102,000 developmental classes for 9,400 children with special needs and orphanhood experience, which are conducted by more than 100 non-profit organizations in 41 regions of the country.
The World of Open Opportunities campaign has given more than 430 children with mental disabilities the help of highly qualified professionals to master the essential communication and learning skills.
As many as 400 museums from 75 regions of Russia take part in the Inclusive Museum project, creating a welcoming environment for families who have children with mental development peculiarities.
Since 2020, six regions have been testing the assisted job placement technology to help children with orphanhood experience and mental peculiarities.
Charitable Foundation Investment to the Future is among the Top 5 largest corporate foundations in Russia. It won a Golden Standard diploma for its 2018 annual report. Leaders of the Foundation and members of its experts and strategic council have made it to the Top 100 leaders of Russian education in 2020.
