Sberbank data labeling platform TagMe to create new jobs in North Caucasus
Sberbank will provide unemployed people from seven regions of the North Caucasus Federal District with an opportunity to earn money on the data labeling platform TagMe. On Wednesday, Maxim Yeryomenko, Andrey Chertok and Marianna Danilina from SberAI, group of Sberbank units in charge of advanced AI projects, discussed the launch of the pilot project with representatives of the Office of Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District.
Unemployed residents of the North Caucasus and those who need a side job will be offered to label audio and images of food for several SberAI speech recognition and computer vision projects. Up to 400 residents of the North Caucasus will take part in the first stage of the project. If the pilot is successful, it can be broadened, in particular to other federal districts.
AI need to see thousands, dozens of thousands of examples (the more, the better) where the same task was solved by a human to make it recognize voice and image. Preparation of such examples is the data labeling. It creates the basis for machine learning.
People in charge of data labeling earn money for the work done correctly. About 500 Sberbank employees are involved in data labeling at TagMe. As many as 3.5 mln items have been labeled since its launch.
Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy Chairman of the Executive Board, Sberbank:
“Thanks to the great number of high-quality labeled data, Sberbank creates AI-based products and solutions that increase the quality of life of our citizens eventually. We are glad that thanks to the pilot project we are resolving this issue in the North Caucasus by providing people with an opportunity to work on interesting and useful tasks and earn money for doing it.”
Yury Chaika, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District:“The high level of unemployment is still one of the main social and economic issues of the North Caucasus. To resolve it, federal and regional efforts are being brought together. During the worsening of the epidemiologic situation and, consequently, the situation on the labor market, we need completely new tools that will enable people to earn additional money quickly. Sberbank’s data labeling platform is a promising project in this case which will be tested in the North Caucasus.”
