This year’s rendition of The Russia Forum will be hosted by Sberbank from April 18-19, 2013 in Moscow. Now being held for the sixth consecutive year, The Russia Forum has earned the reputation as one of the landmark events on the country’s financial calendar. Last year’s Forum was attended by more than 4,500 participants from over 40 countries.
Key speakers scheduled for this year’s The Russia Forum include Elvira Nabiullina, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation; Olga Dergunova, Head of the Federal Agency for State Property Management; ex-British Prime Minister Tony Blair; Dmitry Pankin, Head of the Federal Service for Financial Markets; former President of the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus; Alexander Afanasiev, Chairman of the Managing Board & CEO of the Moscow Exchange. Also slated to take part will be Charles Wyplosz, professor of economicsand advisor to the European Commission, IMF and World Bank, historian Richard Pipes, renowned investors Mark Mobius and David Bonderman, and a number of well-known businesspeople and heads of major Russian and foreign corporations.
Among the topics that will be explored during the plenary discussions of this year’s Forum are the fundamental changes taking place in the global economy, the main challenges facing Russia in the 21st century and the responses needed to meet these challenges. Panelists will also address questions of developing Russia’s more distant regions, the country’s need for an infrastructure overhaul, and the prospects for increased competition in Russia’s gas market.
