Sberbank to participate in XI International Investment Forum Sochi 2012
On September 21, 2012, as part of the Sochi 2012 Forum, Sberbank held its traditional business breakfast. The event was held under the theme: Is a place with no competition a better place to sleep but a worse place to live? The websites of Sberbank, RIA Novosti (www.ria.ru) and Rossiya-24 TV channel showed a live broadcast of the event. For the first time, the websites of Sberbank and RIA Novosti broadcasted a business breakfast in two languages – Russian and English.
Problems with national competitiveness of Russia prevent the diversification and modernization of the economy. Russia, like other big countries, has large differences between its regions, and the regional authorities can play a substantial role in stimulating the economic growth. What are the competitiveness and development drivers in Russian regions? How can the regional administrations stimulate economic development? What is the role of the federal center in stimulating the regions to implement policies aimed at raising competitiveness? These and other pressing issues related to developing the competitiveness of Russia were discussed during the business breakfast.
The event involved representatives of federal executive authorities, heads of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, representatives of Russian big business and the expert community. Herman Gref, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank of Russia, acted as moderator of the discussion.
On this same day, Herman Gref will become the only representative of Russian business to participate in the plenary session Competitiveness – a matter of development or a matter of survival? The session will be also attended by Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation.
